By way of a quick introduction, a large part of my role at Masthaven is to work alongside auction houses across the country to provide onsite support for potential buyers and be the helpful (hopefully!) and friendly face of the company in what can sometimes be a pretty stressful atmosphere for people new to buying at auction.
We aim to be a lender of choice for buyers who want to buy with conviction and apart from the clients with a preapproved agreement, I am also able, through our link to head office, to provide on the spot decisions for clients who had not made financial arrangements before the auction. It is an exciting role and I like to offer support to the auction house I am attending as part of the team effort, which can include everything from taking telephone bids from clients not able to attend, giving out literature to registering a client and even directing him or her to the bathroom!
One of the most important aspects of my role is to provide support where it is needed and help to establish Masthaven as a primary provider of the kind of finance, which enables clients to bid for property with confidence and see them through the auction process. Being on site gives us a clear advantage in understanding not only the general needs of clients at auction, but also it has given us unrivalled experience in being able to advise clients about deadlines in completion times and the way in which finance through Masthaven can help realise their buying ambitions.
In the time I have been working at Masthaven, there is no doubt that while we are all using new technology to improve our businesses, there is still no substitute for giving out business cards. I aim to give business cards to everyone I meet and it still surprises me as to how many people contact me months after. It just shows that old school ‘technology’ and face to face contact still have an important place in helping people with their finance needs.
Over the next few months, whether you become a Masthaven client or not, I would like to share some stories from the auction rooms as well as provide some tips and advice to make your visit to an auction as profitable as possible.
