The research is supported by a recent housebuilding survey from Knight Frank which revealed that many developers are experiencing little improvement in the structure and experience in borrowing money, with many adding that they were dismayed by the complete lack of funding available from reputable lenders.

The poll of developers was taken following Regentsmead’s recent One Stop Shop for Developers in which over 130 property developers attended to hear specialist speakers from across the property spectrum.

In an effort to allay some of the existing concerns over gaining timely and efficient access to a bespoke level of finance, Regentsmead announced that following the overwhelming success of last year’s developer seminar there would be a repeat version in conjunction with warranty provider Checkmate. The seminar provided developers with some inside information on all areas of property development including access to finance, planning, tax, legal headaches and timber frame construction

Commenting immediately after the ‘One Stop Shop’, James Bloom, CEO of Regentsmead said:

"As the lender of choice for both NFB and FMB members, we want to address some of the concerns circulating in the industry regarding gaining access to finance. The event aimed to shed light on some of the most common pitfalls associated with financing various projects and provides developers with an open forum to ask questions to our panel of experts on a variety of issues from planning to warranty provision. Bank finance is still difficult to obtain and typically can take several months. We can deliver ‘in principle’ offers within minutes, often after just one phone call. We can also promise speed, flexibility and reliability that comes with a personal level of service you wouldn’t expect from any other lender."

Rebecca Palmer, a member of the construction and development team at the law firm Prettys, was one of the speakers at the event.

She commented that:

“It was thoroughly motivating; the speakers (each experts in their respective fields) provided valuable and relevant insights to a packed audience of developers and associated professionals and it was a pleasure to be part of such a successful and well-received event”.
